Jacking points
Can anyone tell me if jacking points were fitted to a 1956 split screen. I have recently brought a 1956 split screen two door saloon. One thing that swayed me towards the car is the fact that thers were no horrible patches or plates welded under the car, bonnet or in the boot. Someone must have gone to a lot of time and effort to replace the panels as an whole or the car as never been welded. But for some reason there are no jacking points fitted so this perhaps sways me to the fact that the panels have been replaced and the jacking points haven,t been fitted. So before I have any jacking points fitted I would like to know if they were fiited to this model or not. Thanks Les

Re: Jacking points
They arent fitted to the crossmember like a minor 1000. There is a v shaped beacket near the back shackle and at the front they used a heavy plate on the bottom 2 bolts of the front wing. Chances are its an unwelded car as the metal was much heavier on the earlier cars.
Too many Minors so little time.....

Re: Jacking points
Thanks for the information I wasn,t sure about the jacking points, it looks as if I have brought some and now they are not needed, o well. The car is solid and thats one thing I couldn,t understand with its age, I persumed it had been welded and they just didn,t fit the jacking points. Cheers

Re: Jacking points
normally fine the earlier cars are in better shape than the later ones

Re: Jacking points
But never ever use 'jacking points' anyway. Always jack under the rear axle at the springs, and at the front under the lower suspension arms or under the chassis legs at the junction with the front crossmember if you want the suspension dangling.

Re: Jacking points
Wise move, the last photo is the safest but you still need axle stands to work on the car
