What the best way to weld in new hinge pillars? Ive heard a variety of techniques but would ike everyones opinons.
I would have thought that you would put the door in place attached to the new hinge pillar and weld it in with the door shut. then it has to be in place??? but im probably wrong
Help appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Hinge pillars
Yes, I would do just as you said, attach door to hinge pillar via hinges then "shut" the door- provided the catch and "pin and eye" are in place on both door and b post then the door should stay in place when shut and enable you to tack weld the hinge pillar to the inner wing. I would tack weld at first as a lot of adjusting and fiddling will be needed to get it in the right place. You might need to break the tacks a few times and re-position to get it right.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Re: Hinge pillars
You will probably find the door will 'settle' and this should be taken into consideration hence chickenjohns comments about tacks.
