Stripes??!
Hi all,
Was looking at my traveller the other day and thought it would look nice with a sticker stripe along the side, on the embossed metal bit, a bit like the convertible ones have. any ideas where I can get such a thing??
Luke

Re: Stripes??!
If you mean the raised section on the bonnet sides - ALL Minors (ok - not LCVs) have a painted pin-stripe on there. It's not a stick-on tape!

Re: Stripes??!
As previous said masking tape works rather well, yes it takes a bit of time to get it all lined up, and you may have to touch up the odd little bit after, but imo its well worth the extra effort. Also you can have pretty much whatever colour u wish.

Re: Stripes??!
I seem to remember someone selling a type of masking tape where you peeled the centre section off leaving a supposedly perfect section for painting. Might be a good idea for the faint hearted.

Re: Stripes??!
3M do a plastic fine line masking tape, if you use ordinary masking tape the paint creeps under the tape and leaves a ragged edge I think the other tape talked about was also 3M and you put the tape on which had a cover tape over two tapes a set distance apart but have not seen that for years

I work for Rolls-Royce Motor cars and we pin strips a lot of cars. All done with masking tape.
You can buy 3M tape with different width gaps for different size pin stripe. Just remember to cut the end and fold the 2 pieces of take over each other to give a clean sharpe point to end the stripe on the bonnet.
Re: Stripes??!
I've seen morris's about with stripes but I always thought they were put on as mods. Oh wow a new way to make my morris pretty

if you look down the bottom of this link..
http://potteries.mmoc.org.uk/Identify.htm
it tells you which stripe goes with which colour car but if you like a different colour stripe, just go for it..

Re: Stripes??!
By far the nicest stripes I've seen on a Minor were done by hand using a pinstripe brush. Looks gorgeous if done properly. Most Minors I see in Kent have the bit of stick on tape which looks tacky and cheap and peels off. Sadly, my traveller has the tape, but I plan on changing that with the help of an artistic friend and a special pin-striping brush.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO
