I have seen a couple of cars with the spare wheels mounted on the boot -has anyone on this forum done this? What is required to make the boot strong enough to hold the wheel? Presumably you need to mount a holder through the boot lid to attach the spare wheel to?
I am hoping to do this mod to create some more space in the boot for my impending European adventure.
Any advice appreciated
John

Re: Mounting the spare wheel on the boot
It may break the boot hinges - they are not over-engineered! There was a long/tortuous thread a while back about mounting the spare under the bonnet. Of course - the bonnet hinges are not any stronger!

Strengthen the hinges, the last thing you need is more air resistance.
Fit hinges to the boot floor to accesss the under floor area better.
Carry less stuff
