under body protection

what to use on the underside to seal and protect.
after welding in a new floor and other panels the entire underside of the car has been ground back to bare shiny steel.every thing from the front bumper to the rear bumper.
suggestions welcome for a protective coating :P

Someone will reccommend the right sequence of paint but I would add that over all that use a clear wax coating like Waxoyle. That way, any rot from above can be seen and treated before it spreads.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

First coat should be with rustkiller - to key the surface and neutralise any small pockets of rust and in the seams.

finnish with underseal with mixed in waxoil, great sticky stuff that does eventually dry. good protection.

Hi, just following on from this. How often should I protect the underneath? If its been done a couple of years ago what should I use to protect it and how should you apply it? Any areas I should be careful not to get it underneath?!

Hi, I have found dinitrol to be excellent as an underseal on both new and old metal.
