Hi team,
I'm shortly going to replace the sill on one side (for now) on the mogatron and could do with some advice. I'm going to replace inner, outer, and boxing. Do you need a boxing extension on a 2 door,64 saloon? Also is it worth replacing the hole floor or just the edges? The previous owner had a plate welded across the length of the floor above the cross member and not very well. if so do i go for it in 1/4 peaces or 2 half's?
Cheers Ben

I agree some pictures will help for an assessment. Personally I would only replace what is weak and perforated with rust holes. If the steel is still strong I'd be inclined to leave it until it actually needs doing. But remember, that is just my opinion, yours and others will be different.

The lower sill (the one inside the box section), looks like it needs replacing, you can buy this separately. I would look at just replacing the lower half of the boxing plate, the rest of the panel looks pretty good.
Get a wire brush on an angle grinder onto it all and find the really weak areas, the outer sill, may just be surface rust. Same with the floor, it looks like rust has penetrated, so get it all cleaned up. You may just get away with cutting out the patch and putting in new. It doesn't look like the whole floor needs replacing, but you won't know until you unleash the wire brush.. Check out inside the inner wing inside the wheel arch where the box section ends.. it may have penetrated here also.
It most certainly doesn't look terminal... but quite a common rust area I believe.

mogatron
check out my project with this link to my photo bucket site http://s770.photobucket.com/albums/xx346/mr-rusty/
in my view if your going to get the angle grinder out, do it once.
i opted to take the bull by the horns ( no pun intended) and take out the whole floor and sills on both sides. expensive, yes, but worth it in the long run
