The latest on wings?

I need a new offside front and rear wing soon, spotted this on ebay:

I enquired and was told they are Hadrian panels, the situation with wings and "the fit" seems to change a lot so hoping someone might provide me with an update! The last thing I want is a really lousy fitting panel.
Also - any opinions on the fibreglass wings that are on the market?

With all due respect to the manufacturers & suppliers I think wings(panels in general) are very hit and miss and you are lucky if they fit well the first time. No two cars are the same so there is always some fettling to do anyway.

I inherited two front FG wings and fitted them to replace two rotten steel ones. They fitted OK after a lot of messing around but I am not sure I would do this again but having said that at least they shouldn't rust???

It also depends on what repairs have been carried out on the inner wings and how accurate the repair has been done it fit wings without playing around with them. All wings will need a bit of fettling but did depneds on how much.

No repairs done on my inner wings, they are original luckily :)

Well Hadrian panels are supposed to fit well. I wouldnt go for fibreglass wings, but thats just me. The price seems par for the course as long as there has been no dents or anthing when in storage.

They do seem to be much better these days, but still need a little panel beating on the seam between headlamp and bonnet, as there's a corner that tends to stick out spoil the bonnet/wing gap by coming very close to the bonnet. It either needs carefully dressing back to give a smooth egde or a little cut with a thin cutting disc, tapping in and welding up. The other bit that many folk don't bother with is the spot welded join between the bulbous part of the wing and the flat front where the indicator goes, is quite visible and needs skimming over to hide it if you want it to look right. Other than that they're npt bad these days.

if you get a bad one you may need to weld on a strip round the hockey stick edge, so the wing can be pulled out further to reach the bumper. Haven't had one that bad, personally for a while, but worth checkign with the bumper on just in case.

Having said all that, still not a bad wing for the price. beware the sharp edges - the Heritage ones are much thicker and nicer, but you get what you pay for as they cost much more.

A lot of people don't seem that keen on the FG wings - is that down to poor fit or just that they are FG?

Is just dont like fibreglass, if you see the amount of people leaning on them at rallys!!!!

I bought a traveller last year without noticing that it had fibreglass front wings.... :roll: Bit too casual when I looked at it I guess. Having said that personally I don't mind. Ran it all through last winter, and it was the only bit of the car that didn't rust, other than the wood!
Now having to change them for new steel ones, as the lucky purchaser dosn't want fibreglass :-?
