Mog with Isuzu engine

Ooooh I keep looking at the Corsa's 1.5 turbo diesel and wondering how much of an effort it would be to swap it in......... can't tell if that's a 1.5 or a 1.7 - wonder what gearbox?

no it was not
the picture was taken at the national rally this year and i do not think it was a van ,,,
no where near as neat a install as this green van this is the one you saw

shows you never took much notice of it, even the wrong colour .

it was this van .

soon to have the turbo version fitted over the winter...

that is really neat looking engine bay. May i know that originally is the engine bay also painted the same colour as the car?

Neat and tidy, looks unclutered and well thought out, unlike lots of re engined Minors with stuff put in all over the place.
I expect the heater hose grommets will be added later!!

I've often wondered whether those Isuzu motors would fit. It would appear that they do!
They bolt straight up to an Omega box by the way.

Well I see manual Omega boxes can be had on Ebay for as little as £50: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/omega-2-5-diesel- ... 3a50a912a3 (or as much as £350) they look like they wouldn't be too much of a pain to fit to a mog (nice small bellhousing and the remote could be around the right place.) Has anybody done the job already?

I forgot to mention that the only Omega box that won't bolt straight up is the diesel one...............
The diesel Omega used a BMW straight six diesel engine.

Incidentaly, with the exeption of the old CIH motor fitted to the Manta GTE and Frontera, pretty much all GM motors from the mid-80's share the same bolt pattern, also Saab engines from 1993-on.

Hi all,
I can't belive Badobsesion was the only person at the National to notice this very intresting conversion. There must be somone with some info/spec, not many diesel Mog's out there.

Most of the 2 litre Omegas were probably manuals. The Manta 1800 box will also bolt up, but they're much sought after by the rally boys as the box of choice to bolt up to an XE (redtop) motor.
Also there is a bellhousing available to bolt these engines to a Ford Type 9 box, but it's about £300.

their was 2 diesel Mog's i saw at the national the one in the first pics/
post that e-minor was asking about and steve has a diesel in his 6 wheel traveler think in was out a ford fiesta have pics of it some place
was told about an other in a van but never got a look .
give him a shout he is on the forum .

I've got a Fiesta festering in the yard (you think Moggies rust badly? You should see how quickly Fords disintegrate!) But it's a huge engine (both physically and it's a 1.

and has some nasty immobilising electronics incorporated in its fuel pump. It's also not very economical - I've never got more than 40 odd to the gallon from it whilst the turbo'd 1.5 Isuzu regularly does over 50. The 6 wheel Traveller has had the whole transversely mounted Ford unit grafted in, gearbox and all to drive the front wheels, I really like the idea of a 'drive the rear as it was intended' conversion!
