Series II horn
hi there i have a original horn on my series II and it dosent work when i press it,it stays on all the time but if i move the bracket of the steering column clamp it switches of can any body help.

Behind the steering column bracket there is a brass ring on the column with a sprung contact rubbing on it. The horn should stop when you lift the contact off the ring. If it does then the fault is between the contact and the horn push. If it does not the read below.
The horn is live ie the switch (horn push) completes the circuit by providing the earth. Therefore the problem would appear to be the Purple/Black wire shorting out somewhere between the horn and the contact on the column.
Since the live Purple wire is direct from the fuse to the horn if there was a problem with this wire shorting it would blow the fuse.
