Pulling left

My traveller has developed a quite pronounced pull to the left. Not under braking but on a flat level road. Checked tyre pressures etc. No apparent movement in the front suspension, nothing loose or hanging off and haven't had anything to bits to wrongly assemble it

Swap the wheels front to back and see if it changes anything. Sometimes tyres wear in a diagonal pattern across the surface and can pull in that direction. Check the tracking is OK also.

Look to the tie bars - are the front locations ok ? Also consider the rear axle - has a spring broken - is the axle lying true to the car ?

Modern tyre tracking systems will check the alignment of all four wheels

Just hold a straight length of timber against each rear wheel - pointing forwards - does it run out/in ? Similar on the front - simple guide is the tracking is near enough right. If this has come on suddenly - worry that something has broken!

Swapped wheels front to back - no change
checked tie bars - bushes a bit worn but everything attached
checked front wheel alignment with Gunsons Trackrite will get a straight piece of timber in the morning for the rears
Rear springs - no broken leaves but really flat and need replacing

Strange thing is when I brake really hard she pulls up dead straight - realease the pedal and she pulls left. Didnt notice the problem on a 100 mile trip on Friday so it has come on all of a sudden

The rear spring 'perches' have been known to rot - and allow the axle to move about on the springs.

Will recheck the front hangers. I replaced the rear chassis leg extensions with new bushes and pins a whenI bought the car and had a good look at them this afternoon with a hammer - all sound and correctly aligned - never checked the fronts

checked the fronts - OK - but never even thought about the rears I'll add that to my to do list

I should have said - 'rear spring perches on the axle' - if these rot it can allow the axle to twist.
