Probably been asked before (cant find anything on search) Why was/is the roof pinned and not screwed down?
Soon be fiting the roof and just wondered if it would be better to use screws or carry on using pins Same with the new guttering screws or pins?
Much faster to fit and much less likely to split the grain and let fungus or water in.
Nails, screws and pegs all have their uses.
Screws aren't necessarily superior, it depends on the application.
Years ago one of the trim suppliers you have also carred a soid aluminum extruded roof gutter. I was looking at using that one when I rebuild my traveller (it's still waiting). I would have used exposed screws with sealant. Making the water go up over that seems more reliable that trying to keep it out from under the original style and leaking into all of the nail holes. Is there something wrong with this approach?
