Identifying camshafts

Post by pskipper »

Hi,

We've got a camshaft that looks like it's in good condition which came in the usual bundle of spares but don't know what type it is, how do we work it out?

Thanks,

Philip

He will need to know if it's pin or spider drive, as the 2 rings show it could be one of two cams.

Presumably the drive is for the oil pump, in which case there is a pin across the gap (not sure what a spider drive looks like)

Thanks,

Standard AEA 630 cam - for the 1098 engine. Good upgrade for a 948 though!

But only from the MG Metro engine - NOT the MG Turbo - and NOT the standard 1275 Metro engine ! Needs a very different oil pump!!

beware - there is an 'MG Metro' camshaft on ebay at the moment - and it's NOT an MG Metro camshaft!
