Northern Cyprus pick up

Post by LouiseM »

Spotted this lovely pick up on my hols and had a good chat with the owner. It is all original, he has owned it for 19 years and has no problems getting parts. I told him all about the forum and said I'd post the pictures up so here they are:
Image

Image
Didn't know there were Minors in the green line, thought it was just a Japanese dealership that had been shot up? :)

My Mum&Dad live in cyprus, near limasol. There are plenty of moggy's in cyprus, some of them are in very good nick. Also the climate helps.

So if anyone wants some cheap lodgings for a hol give me a PM

Yes I have to agree, we visit family in Limassol every year and see a few minors just by all the car wreck area by the old town. We had a load of problems bringing Isuzu vehicles back from the millitary base auctions a few years back so assume minors would be just as bad.

Still it is good to see these old cars every year not deterioraring any more, waiting for a time when they are valuable. :P

Kevin,

The North is completely different to the South and is very much in a time warp. The south is very commercialised and tends to be where the majority of the British holiday makers go. There is a Debenhams, Next, Starbucks etc on the Greek side of Nicosia yet the shops are like something out of the 50's on the Turkish side. It's quite strange to see very 'westernised' people in one half of the city but not in the other. Whilst there may be plenty of Minors in the South of the island the pick up was the only one I saw in the North. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxed holiday away from commercialisation and masses of tourists I'd recommend the North of the island.

Lou

Don't recommend it too loud or that'll soon be full of tourists!

Wow that Pickup looks so smart, they most certainly look after their vehicles out there, they don't seem to get the sea salt rotting problems we do, then again they don't get the strong winds with such a mild sunny climate.

Hi Lou

it sure is a nice ute but sadly not ALL original it seems to have a lot of cosmetic work. The tailgate has been plated over and the rear lights see to have been moved 6" higher up then original so I think some serious rot in that original rear end.

North Cyprus hold many old Minors................like the greek side did 15 years ago!

Russell - I was going by the owner, who told me it was all original. My LCV knowledge isn't great although I had a good look round the LCV register display today at Dorset Steam Fair so am a bit more knowledgable than I was :D By the way, I liked the 'airfix' van kit and I'll post a few photos in 'off topic'.

that 1/1 scale airfix kit exhibit was a brilliant inspired idea, Ive seen the picture taken at the dorset steam rally on the off topic page, did you manage to take a high angle view looking down onto it Russ?

you should have sent one to the nationals, the telegraph or the independant will always take unusual shots even if they don't directly pertain to a national news story, mind you, you've got to be quick, they won't take yesterdays pictures even if they are as inspired and thought provoking as that idea. I wish I'd seen it for real.
