Megaglue!

Post by Mick_Anik »

I once replaced the rotten wooden side pillars at the front of a caravan, from inside without removing any of the aluminium sheeting. To sort of waterproof it, I used that polyurethane (I think...poly -something)) foam they use when fitting new window and door frames to buildings.

I made a mix of the foam with cheap cellulose thinner(gun wash). They were reluctant to mix together, but eventually I had a kind of goo. I primed the wood and aluminium with this, and then sprayed the foam in the general area and pushed the wood into place.

Halfway to Poland, I remembered that I had forgotten to put the screws back to hold the wood in place. I checked.......rock solid. Got home - 1200 miles some of which on bumpy roads - and checked again.....amazing. Who needs screws?

If it can perform this well fixing wood to aluminium, there must be numerous other applications!
