thing is though Im a glutten for punishment !

seriously though I fell in love with the sound of a V6 in my dads 760 when I was a kid, when I was seventeen I had a 1.4 Mk3 golf and after driving my dads 760 a couple of times I hankered after a VR6 Golf, since then ive stuck with 4 cylinders and I cant help but look whenever I hear a V6. V8`s sound fabulous but I think I would drive it less because they tend to be more raucous, not to mention they are 1 cylinder longer.
The VR is a little longer than most V6`s as its only 15 degrees between the banks but for some unknown reason I love the sound of that engine. Ive only ever been out in a couple and driven one and the power was all there, all of the time and ready to go. at the moment im driving a TDi and while its more powerful and much torqueier there is a little lag (not much mind) and I miss stretching the legs on a petrol.

TBH ive always found Spax quite hard, how do the AVO ones compare? my main experiance in suspension is on FWD so obviously thats going to be a little different. My prefered setup is KW and if I can justify it then coilovers.

We find Avo to be a very helpfull company. Their dampers have a more meaningful adjustability and are rebuildable. Just a better product in my view. :D
There is a company in Germany that produces bellhousings for RWD on any VAG motor, cannot remember who, so will trawl my bookmarks.

How about the KV6, don't be put off because it is a Rover!

2.5 litre, 4 valve per cylinder, quad cam, all alloy, just the jobbie!!

We tried it Mark and it literally fills the enginebay, and is heavy. I admit I was disapointed when we offered one up, especially having been told that the bellhousing from the K4 was a direct fit, tosh, so it got slung and we went for the Zetec. Shame.

I hankered after a VR6 Golf
I've just changed the plugs in a VR6 Sharan. B###dy unpleasant job. The rear 3 have to be hooked round and dropped out of sight about 150mm down and back towards you with about 100mm clearance to the bulkhead directly above. :o
I was totally stuck for a tool to get the leads on and eventually made one out of a heater hose and a bit of insulation tape - worked a treat :D
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
