UX? number plates?

Reading the ?SL thread made me think, I've seen loads of minors with UX? plates (mine is UXR) these are also for re-registered cars as X was never allocated new.
So who else has one?

I've seen a UXB floating around preston ... no idea who owns it though.

Pre 2001 the last two letters of a three letter set identify the registration authority. ie in UXR the registration authority is XR = London. X was used throughout the alphabet, nearly all allocated to London. The only letter with restricted use was Q which was used on temporary imports or cars of unknown build date. Most Qs were issued by London CC.
Codes containing I & Z were issued by Irish authorities and S was issued by Scottish authorities.
GPO was issued to the Post Office as were several blocks of London registrations. London Transport were also issued with blocks of registrations
Many age relate plates contain S and are unused Scottish plates

So why are so many reregistered classics given plates with UX? then?

UX as the 2nd and 3rd letters was issued to Shropshire which presumably did not use up its allocation when the suffix letters were added in 1963

Yeah, I thought so too

If memory serves me correctly it is a black saloon, although it may be a four-door.
