Workshop Manual

Post by DuncanBeaumont »

As a new(ish) member and now a new owner, the thought occurs to me that I may need a workshop manual. (Petrol pump already)

Where do I get one and which is best? BMC's own or do Haynes do one and where do I get one?

The car is a 1960 1098cc convertible.

Thank you in advance for help.

Thank you those replies.

In the meantime I have done a Google search (as suggested!) and found a link and downloaded and saved the official? workshop manual.

I have found the relevant section and tried to read it..........

Perhaps I should go to car maintenance classes at the local Tech.?

It's all about the points on the petrol pump - is there an idiots guide anywhere?

Yep, and you are on it. Ask the question, no matter how stupid or trivial. You do not know the answer, but somebody on here will.

Yes - just check the forum index to see which heading best suits your question eg mechanical, bodywork etc and post it there. Also, there is a search facility at the top of the page which is useful.

The guide in the manual is perfectly clear - just follow it!
Also -I'm not too sure that link to the Manual should be on a public Forum - there may be a Copyright issue there!

I've removed the link as it has previously had to be removed from here. I can't recall the specific reason but I think BMC is right, it was due to a copyright issue. The manual is however very easy to find using any internet search engine.

Morris Gone BMC gone British leyland Gone Rover sold off and gone so I doubt anyone still owns or cares about the copyright also isn't there a 50 year rule which means earlier copys of this would be copyright free anyway ??? would be nice to find out, I bought a real one after downloading it as it was easier to read and cheaper than printing it

Had a quick google and found this

http://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyr ... yright_law

and it seems either 70 years after the last author of the work dies or it could be 25 years if its a typoographic interpretation so it depends on how you view it.

I've managed to pick two BMC manuals up from car boot sales (not sure why I need two...) so I'm sure you will be able to come across one.

With the exception of one work.....

A prize for anyone who can tell me what it is, who holds the copyright and when it will expire.

Will be hard to tell - until a Writ lands on the doorstep!
Anyone struggling to get a link to an online Manual - PM me !
The idea is to SAVE paper - don't print out the Manual - hold it on the hard drive - and just read (or print) the little bit you need - each time you need it!

Great Ormond Street hospital owns the copyright to UK stage performances of Peter Pan in perpetuity.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
