Borg Warner 65 Auto Boxes - Any Experts Out There?

Post by BigDawgV8 »

Hi,

Getting close(?) to running up the Pick-up for the first time but need some advice on the BW65 gearbox that it has fitted;-

1)How do you check oil level on dip-stick? Running? Stationary? Hot? Cold?
2) How does the kick-down cable come out of the 'box (too short)?
3) Anyone have a workshop manual for one (Rover P6, SD1?)
4) Any other advice for initial starting/setting up gear shift?

Cheers

Send me your email address and I'll forward an extract from a workshop manual. Not sure where it's from (might be SD1) but 33 pages so quite comprehensive.

Hot, running

2) How does the kick-down cable come out of the 'box (too short)?

It comes out at the front - top of the sump area - if short - is it broken?
Or do you mean how do you remove it? - sump off I'm afraid - easy to do, and it's self explanatory when you see it.

3) Anyone have a workshop manual for one (Rover P6, SD1?)

Sorry

4) Any other advice for initial starting/setting up gear shift?

Trial and error I'm afraid, but not too difficult - use the matching lever for your box - you can shorten/extend the linkage to suit quite easily. you can feel the clicks as it changes

Cheers
