Spec

Post by Peetee »

After owning several Minors and reaching various states of modification on some I have now just about 'got there' with Albert. I'm really happy with his spec, it's just about ideal for my taste and the use I put him to. A respray and a 5 speed box would be nice, I have one, but the advantage would outweight the effort right now.
So here it is:
1958 tourer, clarendon grey. 4 registered keepers
Original registered in Nottingham. Father then son owners. 3rd owner moved to Hampshire and laid car up. Acquired and restored over a 20 year period. Total underbody restoration.

Polybuses and Spax telescopic adjustable dampers F&R
4.5" 'van' rims 165/70 Firestone tyres
1275 A+ with flowed head, Peco long alloy inlet, HIF44, K&N cone filter
Large bore stainless 3-2-1 manifold and 2 box system
1098 box and 4.2 diff
Ford vented disc conversion with M/C header tank
Rover 200 BRM reclining adjustable front seats
Electric screen wash
Radio CD + 4 speakers
Dipping interior mirror with courtesy light
F&R retractable seatbelts
Trafficators disabled and indicators in front sidelights and below back bumper
Halogen headlight + sidelight units.

That's it I think.
None of the mods detract from the character of the car. the only obvious one is the seat - and they are a close colour match. Dynamically it's still a Minor only a bit more competent at coping with higher speeds or badly surfaced bends. The extra power is useful at times but it's the extra low down torque that really pleases. The only sad bit is the loss of the farting exhaust on decelleration. that's almost worth buying another Minor for. :D

Lets hear yours..... :D
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

My favourite kind of minor is the kind that looks completely original from the outside but is slightly better kitted out underneath, just like albert, so well done.
The BRM seats suit the car beautifully and are also very comfy!
I like the very discreet indicators though personally I like to see the original trafficators working alongside
