Sealing strip?

Post by markattard »

Referring to item 13 in th pic attached, it is termed to be a sealing rubber strip. Would anyone pl know if this was a standard fitting and where and how was it attached to the panels?

Also was this used on series II's as well?

It fits grille panel to front inner wing, but I cannot find out whether a Ser II had them. We fitted them when we did out Ser II but I don't know whether this was right. It stops any rattle between panels and cushions the front grill surround. Hope this helps.

It's fitted to my MM. Originally I stuck it to the front of the inner wing panel - but it wasn't very succesfull, so in the end I fitted it once the grill panel was bolted up. I found that I needed plenty of rubber lubricant to fit it as it is quite a tight fit!

After evrything was assembled I seem to remember sliding it in from below! as best I could, then just pushing with your finger tips - be prepared to lose a finger nail or two!
