How do I remove the headlight switch knob?

Post by katy »

Does it just unscrew off the shaft? It doesn't want to move and I didn't want to break it. Any tips for removing it?
TIA, Ken :)

You need to unscrew the fixing bevel and then pull it out through the rear of the dash. Probably best to remove the speedo to get at it.

If you have the early pull switch rather than the later flick switch, IIRC you have to push a bit of stiff wire into the little hole in the shaft of the knob (ooh er missus!).

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Just noticed that you have a '61 car so you probably have the pull out switch.

Yes, it's the pull type switch. I'll have to get a mirror and look for the wee hole. Tomorrow.
Thanks a bunch for the replies. :o
