Fine and dandy. :) I'm of the belief that thinking it's fixed is the best way. These cars are very elemental. Feel positive and your Mog will go along with it.

Hope so! But i would look out for a standard dizzy and carry it with you all the time ! I do anyway - and i don't have leccy ignition, well, not in the Minor anyway! TR7 has Pertronix system - I carry a complete spare standard dizzy with me just in case!

Yes I think that is very good advice. When I get one I may well put it on in place of the leccy one just to see the difference for myself (if there is one!).

Just seen the comment in another thread about the new rotor arm being a much snugger fit. This fits in with my remark about the marks on the brass strip. I'm happy to believe that many rotor arms have a "missing" chunk of bakelite, but a bit concerned what a flailing rotor arm might have contacted. Any marks inside the distributor cap?

Don't put up with your engine running less than perfectly, unless your standard of perfection is unusually high. An A-series engine should tick over quite smoothly, and accelerate without any hesitation or misfire.

Car is tucked up for the night and I've got a hot date with an ironing board right now but I will have a look at the dist cap tomorrow. It's a new cap but it did have the floppy old rotor arm whizzing around under it for about 20 miles so this is good advice I think.

You need to keep your wits about you when the phone rings too, I've burnt both ears that way.

If the phone rings it could be another hot date - which could land you in hot water. 8)

Well there we have it. The post starts off talking about the position of an air filter and ends up advising the poster to do his ironing naked. Does this cure misfiring perhaps on the later cars

No Dennis you've got it wrong - it's the gearbox that's smooth on a 948!!

The best way to smooth a rough shirt is to steam it.
