4 Door Handle Spring

Post by nigelr2000 »

My passenger door handle just flops out when driving along unless you unlock the door, I assume a spring has fallen off/broken.

Theres nothing in the manual about the 4 door locks/handles. Does anyone know how it all comes apart or of any usefull diagrams or descriptions ?

Is the centre screw tight. There should be a spring washer behind the screw. That may reduce the play.

Thanks for that Mike but I should have said its the external handle that flaps about not the internal one.

It's a broken spring inside the door handle. Replacement springs can be got but it's an absolute pig to fit. You have to drift out the pin!

did all of mine, the springs are available from Tom Roys, straight forwards but fiddly.worst job is taking the assembly off the car which you have to do to fit the new springs, then its obvious what you need to do to fit,but as said a bit fiddly.
