Points and Condensor for 1969 1098cc engine

Post by purplebargeken »

Hi. Just a quickie. Will attempt a bit harder to start the car tomorrow. Just need a set of points and a condensor, etc.

Can anyone let me have a reference that the local motorfactor blokes could understand/refer to?

Cheers

Ken

They fit just about anything with an A series engine up to 1971. However they could be listed under British Leyland or Rover or whatever they called themselves that day.

True Mike, but I figured any numpty at the local factors could find the right stuff for a Mini - I didn't want to confuse things with Marina's Ital's etc ;-)

The later 998 Minis had a very different dizzy with different points and condenser - so if quoting 'Mini' - be sure it's the early version with Lucas 25D dizzy! Best to take the old parts along with you - and compare.

That's why I said "Up to 1971" :-?
Trouble is these days all the old parts books have been binned and the old boys who knew the difference between a spark plug and a fan belt have long gone, so no chance.
Could try Halfords if they haven't moved everything around AGAIN!
