Cortina guages

Apologies not Minor related but can anyone tell me why my Cortina's fuel and temp guage are always marking full? Thanks

Maybe they should have a voltage stabiliser - and it's not present ?
BTW - Gauge - not guage!

My old Mk3 cortina Haynes manual reckons if fuel gauge only shows full the wire could be broken. Though if both not working I would check common earths and other common components also.

What year is it?

thanks for the tips will check earths then as the wires aint broken it's a Mk5 from 1981

Have looked at a later manual.

Looks like the voltage stabiliser is the common feed to the gauges. I'd suspect that 1st.

No I'd imagine its either Behind the dash or with other electrics. Sorry been 14 years since I had a Cortina to go and check for you.

Might even be plugged into the circuit board on the instrument panel.
