Had a chat with the postie this morning. I was assured that the leaflets would be delivered next week. I had better put myself in quarrantine and read my Minor Matters until it arrives.

If the government did nothing and even one person died let alone thousands, the cry would be 'why were we not told'. Better to have information that to some might consider to be common sense ,but to others a revalation in basic hygene.
My wife is a 'practice nurse' and as such is the first port of call for all folk with sniffs and coughs, the number of these individualls who openly cough at her in here room beggers belief, so for her sake and our families, information is key.
Delivering it to every postal address is one way of trying to get the message across. Fast access media will play its part too.

Unless I'm off track here, you seem to be taking this leaflet thing way too seriously, common sense hygiene should go a long way to preventing problems!

Agreed Les, but so many people simply do not have a clue about hygiene

If you look at what happened in 1918 you can see why this is taken seriously:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1918_fluThings are different now, we are healthier, better fed, and have anti viral medicines.
However the world is now a much smaller place. Look at how far and how fast the virus spread round the world.
The government has to show that it is aware and doing something. Printing the leaflets does that, and stocking up on Tamiflu is the practical thing they have done.
The sneezing, hand washing message is sound and might even save the NHS money if other infection rates are reduced.

I'm glad that the leaflets are going out, as I work with at least one person who has no idea of basic bodily hygiene. Yuk.

Wishful thinking to hope a leaflet will help them.

Luckily I have to wear latex gloves anyway to keep the paint off my skin, so at least if I have to touch anything this person touches, I can just bin them.
