Yes the English language, it requires very good grammar and vocabulary to be absolutely clear in meaning but that is rare so misunderstanding or perspective takes over.
I was replying in the context that the original question was posed, i.e working on thin material and with a drill that may be faster than ideal for the drill diameter. Generally I would say the pressure one can apply with a hand drill is limited especially in awkward places and it is better to err on the high rather than low as the longer the hole takes the more friction and heat.
I suppose the other factor is that people on here vary in skill and experience. I too am time served and with very many years experience have (I hope by now?) developed a feel for using tools, and my terms are probably subjective based on that, i.e they are relative.
