Remote Brake Servo

Post by scarrington »

Hi All, I have recently bought a 1970 1,000 van with an inline Lockheed remote servo that doesn't seem to work very well. I have changed all shoes and wheel cylinders, but I am not sure if there is a special way to bleed the servo cylinder, or if it has been fitted properly.
Does anyone have a copy of the fitting/bleeding instructions for such a thing? or can anyone tell me what the problem may be. Cheers Simon

If it is an in-line servo there isn't anything special about bleeding the system.
If the pedal isn't spongy and doesn't pump up then I'd take a look at where the vacuum pipe to the servo has been fitted and the non-return valve first.

If necessary you can buy a brand new one for less than £100
Fitted one yesterday to an Austin 1300 GT
Not worth messing about with repair kits, it may cost you as much in the end
