PMs not getting sent frm Outbox

I have four PMs sat in my outbox, some of which have been there for days without being sent. There seems to be a problem with the processing of these messages. I have only used 8% of my PM inbox allowance so this shouldn't be a factor.

Sent messages only disappear from the out box when the recipient opens the message, not when you send it.

I recently had someone read a PM although it had not even left my outbox ????????

Its the act of reading the PM that takes it out of the Outbox

But mine had been read, and was still in there. In fact I deleted it later?????
