Saw this on a traveller today and though, yup that's cunning.

Might just be easier to not cut the drain slot in the first place. Explain yer idea.

I dunno, dude, I know nothing about travellers and I thought looking at these two that this wide gap in the gutter was standard? in which case, I thought the little home-made doo-hickey was a cunning plan to stop the water rotting the top of the rear pillar kinda thing

I think you are correct dude, and the gap is indeed for drainage. Just seems a tad crude too me

I'd say all travellers have this gap, its only really needed when the car is stationary and under heavy rainfall. I'm sure that it can be left out but it would require great patience to form the corner without it, if indeed its possible anyway.

you could make one of them part of a wind deflector - as seen on 1970's station wagons. they break up the wind flow to prevent dust blowing back in the rear window
