... I don't supposed someone with some expertise is available on Friday morning and could get to Wantage to run the rule with me over a Minor I'm thinking of buying?
I've been looking to buy one for a while but now I'm going to look at a real prospect, I'm getting nervous and am beginning to lose confidenced in myself! I've got the right books (Essential Buyer's Guide, etc) and read them, but actually putting them into practice....!
Sorry to be dominating this board at the moment, but....

Firstly have confidence in yourself.
Get there and give it a thorough once over and if something doesn't seem quite right walk away. If you think its a goer then take another look over just to be sure.
Of course, you can always take a load of photos, tell the seller that you are going to see another one and will call back on saturday - post the pics here and we can give an opinion!
Remember its a buyers market right now....

Most important of all - make sure it has a BRAND NEW MOT certificate! Not more than 2 months old. If the MOT is older - tell the seller to put it through again and get a new certificate - if he won't - walk away! If he does put it through a new MOT - if possible, go along and 'observe' the MOT - and don't be frightened to ask the Tester all the questions in the world! If in AA etc - you can of course pay for an inspection by AA - ask the seller to pay for it if you buy! If you don't buy - you may have to pay for it of course!!

Thanks for the advice... but I thought the AA (of which I'm a member) didn't do tests on cars more than fifteen years old?
It's actually a car which is advertised on this site on the "for sale" board, with pictures, so you can all look at it anyway... in fact, bmecosse, you were the last person to comment on it, you said it had a USP!
But you're all right, I should know what to look for and not to let my heart rule my head.
Yeah, right...
