Air tools

If you want good quality and cheap air tools, go and have a look at Aldi's current display. Yesterday I bought a wall mounting drum reel holding 15m of retracting airline for £41 and a pressure regulator, filter and lubricator with hoses for £20. Their 2.5 HP, 24 litre compressor is £85 and the tools are £12-15. I bought the latter the last year and've been well satisfied. MikeN.

Yes - my stuff is Aldi - and has served me well so far. Compressor is quite noisey - so if using it a lot (ie spraying a car) I would take it outdoors - which is a good idea anyway to stop it breathing in the thinner fumes !

I bought their Air Impact wrench and air ratchet this week - excellent value especially as there is a range of impact sockets and extension bars thrown in as well (metric so no use on the Moggy!) Used it last night to take off the wheels on the Freelander and it works well.

Also bought the grit blasting kit (around £10) this will be ideal for fixing a couple of rusty stone chips on the MGF.

All seems to be good enough quality and strangely identical in shape to the 'Clarke' stuff Machine Mart sell for 3 times the price.

The impact sockets are not the best - i've broken a couple of them ! Important when refitting wheel nuts to turn the torque control down to a lower figure or they will definitely overtighten!

I always do the final tightening with a torque wrench - just to make sure.
I will look out for the impact sockets though - thanks
