Post by AnimalJack »

My new (old) wood is almost dry ! ....if the present` heatwave` continues I`m hoping to get a couple of first coats of varnish on by the weekend !
I`m looking for a rear bottom seat cover in light green if anyone has one and would like to sell it to me please get in touch.
Image
If applying varnish - be sure to keep the drain holes in the side strips clear! Consider Teak/Danish oil as an alternative to varnish.

I'm using Danish Oil on my new wood. I've done four coats so far, and it gets better every time. By the time I've got the recommended ten coats on it should be a lovely golden yellowy/brown. Time consuming to do though.

Each to their own but Danish oil is rather prone to picking up road dirt etc and often looks grubby especially when the weather is damp.

aussiemike, I know the feeling! Although I do have the luxury of a roof over mine. But the sun is shining, I've just put coat no 5 of Danish Oil on the wood, and now I'm trying to find all the bits to put it back together.
