Which wings - Heritage or other?

I would like to replace the wings on our traveller it will be easier in the long run rather than keep stripping patches to bare metal and respraying.

There seem to be two types available (other then NOS) ordinary pattern and Heritage type wings. 100% difference in price however.

Question are:

1) Is it possible to protect or treat the cheaper ones adequately to prevent break through of rust if so with what?
2) Do the expensive ones have thicker metal or better metal (or both)?
2) Do you spray paint off or on the car? I would prefer off but know I'm a bit clumsy with handling sometimes?

1) yes it is
2) yes and they fit a whole lot better.
3)Paint off the car, but only do the inside of the wing and all edges. Fit to the car and align correctly, seam seal the the wing to flitch and spray the outside of the wing and flitch.
