Morris Minor 1000 Goes To Mongolia, and back again!

Post by jwadyer »

Dear Morris Fans

I'm taking part in the 2009 Mongol Rally, which, as the name suggests is a long distance rally from the UK to Mongolia and back again; a round trip of about 15,000 miles! Our team consists of five students, driving a 1967 Morris Minor and a 1991 Polo Fox. The Polo side of the team is convinced that the Morris is not at all suitable for the trip and we are very keen prove them wrong!

We're looking to have some work done on the Morris, both to improve our chances of success, and to make the car as presentable as possible so it looks the part for the launch day in July. We'd greatly appreciate any suggestions as to how/where we can get this done, not to mention any donations of parts etc that could help us out.

For more information check out our team page at www.morristomongolia.com and the official rally website at http://mongolrally.theadventurists.com/

We're taking part in the rally to support of Christina Noble Children's Foundation and Mercy Corps Mongolia; please help us to reach our sponsorship target by donating a few quid to either of these fantastic causes at Just Giving CNCF - http://www.justgiving.com/morristomongolia_cncf and Just Giving MC - http://www.justgiving.com/morristomongolia_mc

thanks for your support, pics of the car coming soon!

You should be able to do that as a Minor has completed this event before :D
It would be useful if you filled out your location in your profile so anyone with spares bits and pieces will know if they are nearby.
Cheers

That's a very good point! The car is currently housed in central Oxford in a nice, snug underground carpark!

Thanks in advance for all the replies :)

my friend and i were looking to do the mongol rally sometime
er well my suggestions
clean out any filters ESPECIALLY THE FUEL PUMP!
and grease all the grease points which are meant to be done every 3000 miles i think

best thing to do is to get a hayes manual and carry out a full service on it

let us know how it goes!!
good luck
