Just checked with a mate who has a MGF - they have (albeit modified) Rover 100 subrames front and rear.
Seems pointless to reinvert the wheel when you can, in theory, easilly fit a second engine into a MGF chassis and then add a Minor bodyshell.
After all there is no way such a modified Minor could keep it's original identity and would need SVA / Q reg whereas there would be more chance of classing the MGF as having a Minor "bodykit" :lol:

I have been measuring up and the mgf track is only 4 inch too wide which is sortable, and the wheelbase is 7 inch too long which again is sortable.

If I used the whole mgf floorpan and subframes and rear engine it would score enough sva points to retain the mgf reg number as a bodykitted mgf. And then transfer any old reg number onto it afterwards.

I wish I could stop thinking about this but I cant

MGF wheels are wide (I think 195 front and 205 rear) but they have a neat steel "spacesaver" spare that takes a standard 175 tyre that would be more in fitting with a Minors looks.
My mates MGF is off the road / in pieces at present undergoing some MOT work so if you need any photo's / measurements let me know.

cheers for that but my wife has one as her fun car, it sits in the corner of our drive 6 days out of 7 so I can measure away at will at home.

Unless you keep the Minor identity - you would not get free tax! No reason why the minor would need any SVA stuff - it's just a Minor that's been modified - so as long as you get one with V5 - it will be fine. I would start with fitting the front subby and try that - with the standard back axle undriven, then add the rear subby later.

Hi, Interesting idea this, like others have already said it has been done before.
Try searching for Kim and Yvonne Mather and their twin engined VW sirocco, unlike many of these road cars this was tested in competition (until the MSA banned its type for upsetting the form book) I think they tried manual / auto and 2x manual configurations, what ever, it was devastatingly quick, with an engine at each end it also handled exceptionally well

I just wish I could stop thinking about this idea.

I am in the trade an am keeping an eye open for a cheap (probably head gasket blown) MGF to come up on my local radar.
