Hi there,
I know its probably been covered before, but I can't find it anywhere! How do I fit the plastic chrome strip in the late type screen rubber? I have a special tool but I just cant do it! I haven't managed to work out which bits of the tool to use, or how to get the strip started in the seal.
Any advice/pictures/directions or general mocking gratefully apreciated!
and if there is anyone in the Bathgate area who is willing to pop round to help sometime would be warmly welcomed!
thanks in advance
Rupert

You have to put the strip through the eye of the tool and push the first half inch of strip into the seal. Then you need the tool angled backwards towards the bit you put in and push the tool forwards in the direction you are trying to fit the strip. As you push forward the fatter part of the eye opens up the seal and the strip drops into the gap it makes. You will find it easier to use some lubricating spray in the chanel of the seal as you go along. Silicone based sprays work well but try to avoid grease or washing up liquid as these can cause problems later..... When you get all the way around to the start point cut your strip at least an inch too long and force it in to join with the point you started at. This will help ensure that the corners are fully pushed flat with the bodywork.
