Hi, I found a (slightly wobbly) old picture of an Austin 1300 Countryman my parents owned years ago and just look at the sun-strip windscreen sticker - wow! I think it says "Radio 1 - The Happy Sounds" - not the sort of thing Radio 1 would say about itself now!
I'd love something like that for my '62 Minor - what an accessory that would be! But can you still get this sort of thing? Does anyone have an unused one hidden away somewhere?
Also, does YVJ 583K still exist by any chance?

I can remember (years ago ) having one the that read 'Isle of Man TT Races' But yes, you can still get them. I bought one from MDC, as I don't have sun visors.

YVJ 583K hasn't been taxed since April 1987 so it's probably fair to assume that's when it died
You never know though - could be tucked away in a barn somewhere!

If I remember rightly, it was on a Renault I had at the time. Took the children one year instead of going on the bike. MDC stands for Motorist Discount Centre

I'm sure i have an un-used MMOC one as the regalia used to do them many moons ago!
And Ben, its a BLUE one so would suit your car perfectly!
Only thing now is to find out where that extra safe place is that i tucked it away!
*IF* i can find it Ben i will let you know
Oh wow, a blue MMOC sunstrip would look brilliant in the Morris! It would match the very old club sticker in the back window! Thanks for having a look for me Carlo. That's a nice looking grey saloon by the way, but what's that clinging to the front grille?

I wonder if our very own Regalia Queen could find out if these could be re-introduced (providing the manufacturing cost was reasonable)and if I remember they were available in Green as well as Blue.

Not sure where it is now, the picture was taken over 20 years ago!
As for the grille, i think it was an attempt at a christmas tree one year. Must have had too much festive spirit
oh I remember thos sunstrips when I was a kid!! today they're popular on modern cars but just body colour no wording but now they made them illegal!!! which is bloody stupid! as when you have the sunvisor down it's covering the same area!

I thought it was thethree day beard growth- ondered what you had been feding your Moggy!!
You used to be able to get the plain sunstrips and put white letters (number plate type?) on to make your own logo, eg "Kev and Tracy". Even at the time that those were popular they were cringe makingly embarassing!
For the younger element- 275 to 285 was the medium wave frequency of Radio 1, before FM became generally affordable. Listened to Radio Caroline 319 myself, being a bit of a rebel!!
