Trav during resto

Post by polo2k »

While a Trav is being restored can it be left without wood?
Not to be used for driving but just sitting and possibly rolling in and out of the garage (maybe under its own power)
bit like this (pic courtesy of morris-1000.co.uk)

[IGOR] - 1970 trav (In Surgery)
[GOLFIE] - 2001 Golf GT TDi 200 (my daily "fix")

Yes it's fine to leave your Trav without it's wood, although it is structural the body shell is self supporting. It would be a laugh to have a drive while like that tho
Mine looked the same 12 months ago and went back together O.K.
Image
I wanted to raise the rear end, so I lifted the body by the rear bumper pins. I soon put it down when the body started to bend at the base of the B pillar
