Brakes and Heads

Post by Longdog »

Hi, when working on the brakes if you have a remote top up arrangement, in order to keep the fluid from leaking whilst working on cylinders pipes etc use a Girling squeeze off tool on the rubber hose to the master cylinder.Once a little fluid has flowed from the joint a vacuum effect will keep the rest of the fluid where it should be-in the system.
As far as head reassembly goes put a blob of grease on each valve stem at the top before compressing springs. When you refit the collets/retainers they will stick in place until compressor is released.

Just fit a thin plastic bag over the master cylinder top-up hole - then refit the cap!
