went out yesterday

Post by markc »

I went out for a run yesterday in ''Jenny'' for the first time since October.
I hadn't felt like taking her out because of my knees aching but i feel really good today and my enthusiasm has returned.

It was a real pleasure and i felt a lot of pride as people looked and i got chatting to an old bloke when i called for petrol,he said how good she looked and i must be proud to own a car like that.

And you know what?....i am!

I get that all the time - the other day I went down to my (91 year old) Dad's place to put a new battery on his car, and another old boy came over and started chatting about Minors - I think he was quite impressed that my Dad's 2001 Nissan Primera was being successfully jump started from a 1965 Minor! We then used the Minor with jump leads to keep 12V on the Nissan's system so he didn't lose radio codes etc. while I changed the battery - worked a treat! :D :D

And again, a couple of days ago an old guy rang the doorbell to tell us that we (= my wife) had left the lights on in the Minor - again he seemed interested in the car, I can't help thinking that if that had been one of our modern cars he'd not have bothered and we'd have ended up with a flat battery!
Some people are like slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you throw them downstairs.
