I was just wondering when is a car too far gone to restore ? The reason I ask is that my traveller has a noticable hole in the front of the floor by the passenger wing, the usual thing, and I was wondering how serious is this in terms of restoration - can it be done or is it a huge job ???
The photo below was taken of a car I'am scrapping at the moment, but it shows the same thing.
Gertie, 1962 Saloon, Milly, 1969 Traveller (ex APL 971H) and now KAS 1958 4 Door Saloon.

Depends how bad - but at worst a new floor section is welded in along with associated sill parts and inner wing repairs! ANYTHING can be saved - probably even the one in the picture.

It depends on what type of car.
A 2 door saloon can be saved from almost any state of rot. A 4 door is a little bit less robust and the shell can distort more easily when sills floor, crossmember and chassis legs are gone - leading to dodgy door gaps after restoration.
Travellers (when traveller wood is removed) and concvertibles can be saved from a poor state but this takes a higher level of skill because the floor and sills are the only structure to the shell.
