Just fitted a new old stock Starter motor. The old one hasn't got a broken spring, but the whole bendix part is very sloppy, and jingles beautifully when shaken. Also about 1/16" end float. No sign of anything causing the engine to jam however.I bet that jingling is a broken bendix rebound spring
Anyone want it as a rattle for a baby? Just think of the baby's biceps.....
Seriously though, I think it'd be a good project to recondition one of these winter evenings when I have nothing else to do (ha ha!).
