Telescopic Shocks Grumpy's Kit

Post by TheBartz »

Does anyone have any info on what shock absorbers were used in the Grumpy's kit..? Nick was never that forthcoming when he was still trading!
and now he has rertired completely.....
The kit I have, has shocks with eyes at the top and btm on the front and eyes at the top/studs at the bottom on the rear..
Any info, sizes, types, specs, sources will be very gratefully appreciated.

Well most of the older kits tended to use mini spec shocks but they dont have a stud at the bottom can you put up a photo of the rear ones and are you sure they have the stud fitted to the shocker and not the mounting.
Cheers

Yep - I was going to suggest Mini too - but that 'stud' mount is in the wrong place for that. Are the Grumpy kits not considered to be a bit ' doubtful ' shall I say - due to weak front mount using the original damper bolts and the 'cracking' rear beam mount?

I can confirm (from memory, not a photo, sorry) that the rears do indeed have a stud on the bottom end of the damper. If anyone knows where to get new rubber bushes for these I'd be grateful.

I seem to remember the rear dampers were made by Monroe, just found their website but the on-line catalogue seems to be broken.

You could probably use tie-bar rubbers from a Mini - very similar size.
