seat belt fitting

Post by kennatt »

has anyone fitted seat belts to a split screen four door. I am going to but can't decide where to fit the upper door pillar mount. The trafficators have been removed and the external slot filled years ago.on a trial fit I would like to mount the upper in the centre of the pillar but obviously there is little support at this point since it bridges the trafficator slot.Has anyone found a solution to this, fitting above the slot towards the roof seems to put it too high and the belt would cross my line of vision to the offside. fitting below the slot puts it too low .The other fittings are not a problem can sort out the positions and strengthening plates. Thanks in advance

Normal solution in the old days was to take the belts over the shoulder and the seat back and down to the floor. The pillars are not strengthened - so fitting belts to them would be pointless - in an accident they will just pull out far too easily.
