Flywheel dowels & clutch cover

Post by Jefftav »

Another question which follows on from my question about which clutch to use in the 5 speed conversion. The flywheel has 2 dowels to locate the clutch cover. The clutch cover when bolted up only lines up with 1 of the dowels. Will this cause any difficulties if I just carry on or will I need to have the flywheel drilled to accept the dowels to locate the clutch cover?

If the flywheel has to be drilled is this something for a macine shop to do or can I do this with a normal drill at home?

Thanks again, Jeff

I would try to get the dowels in Jeff - with great care, using the cover as a drilling jig - i'm sure you will be ok ! Make the holes tight for the dowel - and put a spot of loctite on as you bang them in!
