Traveller Door Fit

Post by Leo »

Gaydon on saturday was the first Minor gathering I have attended despite owning many Minors over the years and running my present Traveller for nearly a year.

One thing was very noticeable on saturday, the rear door hinges on my traveller had been fitted upside down compared with all the others.
The effect of this is that the doors fit absolutely flush with the rear pillar.

Anyone seen this before or indeed tried it?

When I first read your post, I thought you mean't that the doors were fitted upside down

I wouldn't have thought that mounting the hinge the other way would alter the position of the door as its stopped from going further in by the rebate in the frame and the rubber seals.

Could it be that your doors are thinner than usual?

The doors are 32-35mm thick and the hinges are upside down compared to every other traveller I have looked at, but they are a very good fit compared to most others I have seen

If the wood is original, the hinges were recessed into the wood, as were the lights. This would allow the doors to fit closer, plus the rear pillars were a deeper section than what is produced today.

Just means your doors are now hanging on the bolts - when they should be resting on the little 'balls' in the sockets. I would turn them up the right way!

They may be hanging but lets face it not many doors fit as well as these, in fact some of those I saw at Gaydon were a terrible fit
