Due to a lack of facilities, I'm considering having my convertible resprayed professionally.

But don't you need to repair any damage with more '2 pack' J - or can you just use a Hellfrauds spray can and patch it up ? I did read somewhere that HSE were planning a 'purge' on the use of this stuff - inspection of premises/equipment/extraction facilities/exhaust filters/breathing apparatus/training records/health records etc etc - the whole gambit really! The plan being to eliminate it as quickly as possible because of the hellish health problems it can cause - often later in life when chronic asthma sets in. I think in some ways it's seen as the new 'asbestos' problem.

Bm, sorry but I don't understand your first point. If you mean that you do not need to use 2k for repair, then yes correct, but my point was saying that 2K is not any more difficult to blow in than any other product.
As regards to the HSE, 'that'll be the day' I have never seen one in 15 years, and get pestered more by the BBC asking if I have a liscense to play my radio.
I have not seen the HSE rush to make sure that the fuel filler nozzles at your local petrol station actually seal on the filler neck to eliminate carcinogens being breathed in whilst filling up.

to put peoples minds at rest , could i just add that i was a commercial vehicle paint sprayer for 22 years ( big boys toys ) all of the techniques from that went into spraying the moggy air fed an all, as for bm question you can do local repairs with 2k as you can get a 2k fade out thinner and if you wanted you can do localised repairs with celly over 2k if required and visa versa its synthetic that causes a problen when blowing in on repairs. As for the finish that depends what you wanted to achieve in the first place i didn't / don't want a concourse car just one that shines and will last a while with out all the work of buffing.
After saying all that i would not recomend spraying 2 pack to any one who has not had the proper training nor the proper equiptment air fed, spray suit etc

I agree, it can even get into the blood through skin and hair so a proper spraying suit is also required. I hate the stuff, looks like plastic into the bargain.
A third agreed! You CAN use celly at home provided a carbon organic vapours mask is worn.

As for hard wearing, not really, 2-pack is more prone to stone chipping than celly as its harder and more brittle. Celly can be maintained by washing the car carefully and waxing (the car) often.

Nice job, BTW, dusty frog! I agree, with proper facillities (air fed mask and ventilated booth) 2-pack is safe to use- just not at home for the amateur-people have died doing this.

I have used 2-pack on my 944 as it was originally 2-pack anyway - but only in the booth at college- I would not use it at home and actually have some guards red celly for spraying in the sills and wheel arches.

Simmilarly, I use celly on my Minors as they were all celly.

I sincerely hope you have proper air-fed breathing apparatus - this is absolutely essential if spraying '2 pack' paint. It is NOT recommended for home use because it is so dangerous to health
i do belive that this comment is unnessary as do u think a amature could get that sort of finish you comment was totall useless although a valid point 8) that finish on this car is so goo that you wouldn't even have thought that it came from a spray gun cheers

The comment re 'air fed mask' is VERY important - this stuff is a real killer! Very glad to hear that dusty had all the proper facilities and was trained how to use them correctly. People HAVE made themselves v seriously ill spraying 2 pack without proper protection, and it's permanent damage - there is no recovery.
I have made myself temporarily ill spraying 'celly' in a closed garage - very unpleasant and an experience I won't repeat. But at least it's not permanent damage. I now spray outdoors only - yes , we have been over all the pros/cons several times already!
