rear spring hanger surrounding

Post by stag36587 »

I recently replaced a rear spring hanger using the excellent full hanger and plate repair panel. However, on second look, I'm not convinced by the condition of the original floor pan along the longer edge of the hanger repair plate and think that roughly 8" x 2" could do with being replaced. Bearing in mind the proximity to the new hanger plate would it be acceptable practice just to replace that thin strip or do I need to go for a larger repair? The rest of the panel is OK. Hope that makes sense without a photo!

Thanks

Nothing wrong with local area repairs to otherwise solid metal. Ideally it should be butt welded in.
