Delorian

Post by polo2k »

Hi all,

Ive just found out that a guy where I work used to work at delorian. Sounds like a great place to work but I was surprsed with a few things, if there was a scratch then they scrapped the pannel and fitted another!!! no wander they went bust!

Has anyone got any pics of the cars coming off the line? looking specifically for ones going from the line to PDI.
[/me hopes for embarasing pics of a colleague]

They were unpainted stainless steel panels though weren't they?

Unfortunately they tried to sell us a car we didn't want... very North American! Bit of a dodgy bloke too I believe De Lorean was, caught doing a cannibis deal or something on camera? A very talented engineer in his youth, but I think greed took over at some point. :(

Hello Ash,

John Delorean was a high flier in General Motors, sales and marketing mainly I think and ended up very near top man at one time?

His idea of a car was rather strange, why build a glass fibre bodied car then cover it with brushed finish stainless steel? He also had to involve someone like Lotus to sort out the terrible handling.
The trouble was that it was taxpayers money that financed this 'enterprise'

The phrase at the time was:- Buy the car and get a can of Coke.
